angels and demons

I made some huge strides this week.  I finally got a scanner from a friend who is letting me borrow it.  I also met some comic artists at Comic World in Busan who are fellow expats.  Some of them even make enough money from comics that they don't even have to teach.  It appears web comics are the way to go,so I need to step up my game and start using Photoshop and other digital art programs.  But I still want to keep drawing in sketchbooks until I get better.

I've been studying Burne Hogarth (http://www.amazon.com/Dynamic-Figure-Drawing-Burne-Hogarth/dp/0823015777) and his main skill is obviously creating figures that burst with movement.  He claims most artists are afraid of foreshortening and stick to making safe, flat figures because it's easier. And he's right.  I also need to work on shading and fully render a picture.

Drawing has also proven to me I have a very limited attention span.  I really need to push myself further and detail pictures more.

Still I think this is the best update I've had in a while, and I am very excited to press forward.  Thank you all for your support.

appendages and assassins

I'm about to fall asleep so I'll make this update brief.
I've really been working on faces lately and it is a beast to overcome.  I'd go as far to say faces might quite possibly be the most difficult thing to draw well. I have got a lot of practicing to do... In fact I'm so embarrassed at how some of them look I'm just not going to upload them.  I've been drawing from references both in real life and from photos.
